New e-filing website (www.incometax.gov.in) launch:\u00a0 Along with the launch of the new e-filing portal, the Income Tax Department is providing free of cost ITR preparation software for Forms ITR-1, ITR-2 this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Income Tax Department launched its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in yesterday (7th June, 2021). It will provide convenience and a \u201cmodern, seamless experience\u201d to taxpayers. \u201cIndia gets new and most advanced Income tax portal for filing returns and paying taxes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with new website\/portal the government has also changed it’s domain from earlier https:\/\/www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in\/<\/strong> to http:\/\/www.incometax.gov.in\/ <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the new features?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. New taxpayer friendly portal integrated with immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) to issue quick refunds <\/strong>to taxpayers;<\/li>
  2. All interactions and uploads or pending actions will be displayed on a single dashboard<\/strong> for follow-up action by taxpayer;<\/li>
  3. Free of cost ITR preparation<\/strong> software available with interactive questions to help taxpayers for ITRs 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to begin with; Facility for preparation of ITRs 3, 5, 6, 7 will be made available shortly;<\/li>
  4. Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile to provide certain details of income including salary, house property, business\/profession which will be used in pre-filling their ITR. Detailed enablement of pre-filling with salary income, interest, dividend and capital gains will be available after TDS and SFT statements are uploaded (due date is June 30th, 2021);<\/li>
  5. New call center for taxpayer assistance for promt response to taxpayer queries. Detailed FAQs, User Manuals, Videos and chatbot\/live agent also provided;<\/li>
  6. Functionalities for filing Income Tax Forms, Add tax professionals, Submit responses to Notices<\/strong> in Faceless Scrutiny or Appeals would be available.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThe mobile app will also be released subsequently, to enable taxpayers to get familiar with the various features”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
